Therapy for When Life Feels Heavy
Katelyn Mucci, LMHC
Individual Therapy for Adults in Latham, NY & Online Throughout New York
Life can feel overwhelming, especially when you're dealing with anxiety, depression, grief, relationship challenges, or major life changes. Therapy can provide a space to slow down, gain perspective, and find a way forward.
Examples of How I Can Help
Before a presentation:
You know you're prepared, but hours before presenting, you keep imagining yourself forgetting everything. Your heart starts racing, your hands get sweaty, and you consider skipping the presentation.
Sending a text:
You send someone a message and they don't respond for several hours. You start wondering if they're upset with you, reread the conversation repeatedly, and imagine different things you might have done wrong.
At night:
You're physically tired, but your mind keeps jumping from one worry to another—tomorrow's responsibilities, finances, relationships, or something embarrassing that happened years ago.

Feeling emotionally disconnected from things happening around you
Withdrawing from people:
Friends invite you out, but you repeatedly decline because you don't have the energy to socialize. Eventually, you stop responding to messages altogether.
Difficulty concentrating:
You sit down to work or study, but your mind feels foggy. You read the same paragraph several times without absorbing it.
Self-criticism:
You make a small mistake and immediately start thinking that you're failing, that you're not good enough, or that you're letting everyone down.
Grief
A major life change:
After a divorce, breakup, move, or other major change, you find yourself grieving the life you thought you were going to have.
Losing someone you love:
After someone close to you dies, ordinary moments—like seeing their favorite food or hearing a song they loved—suddenly bring back intense emotions.
Trauma
Always being alert:
Even when you're somewhere safe, you constantly scan your surroundings, notice every sound, and feel like you need to be prepared for something bad to happen.
A reminder triggers a reaction:
You hear a sound, smell something familiar, or see something that reminds you of what happened. Suddenly, you feel your heart racing, have disturbing dreams connected to what happened, and wake up feeling like you're back in that moment.
